Flour can be mixed with water from a liquid container like usual, but <a href="handbook://kneadingmixingguide">kneading</a> allows more ingredients to be combined together. In addition to water, milk, lard, and broth may be used to create dough. Optionally, lard/cooking oil and yeast starter can be added in. Adding any liquids beyond water will add small amounts of nutrition and healing to the finished bread product (including pies).

Fruit juice is a base liquid with many resulting outputs.<br>If allowed to spoil, it ferments into <a href="handbook://item-vinegarportion">vinegar</a> and acidifies.<br>When sealed into a barrel or <a href="handbook://block-aculinaryartillery:bottle-clay-blue-corked">bottle</a>, juice cures over time into 'cider' (the exact name varies based on the fruit used).<br>Lastly, juice may be <a href="handbook://simmeringguide">simmered</a> in a <a href="handbook://block-aculinaryartillery:saucepan-blue-fired">saucepan</a> or <a href="handbook://block-aculinaryartillery:cauldron-iron">cauldron</a> to concentrate it into fruit syrup.

Almost anything can be fried, if you put your mind to it. Get started by taking a basic ingredient, such as cheese, vegetables, meat, or boiled eggs, then <a href="handbook://kneadingmixingguide">knead</a> it with a bonding agent such as food oil, honey, lard, liquid egg, or syrup, some flour to form a mild crust, and a handful of bread crumbs to finalize the breading. This breaded item can be further kneaded with lard or oil to enhance its flavor, then baked in an oven- but it may burn if left unattended. <a href="handbook://simmeringguide">Simmering</a> it with lard or oil will result in a perfectly fried food every time, and cauldrons make it easy to fry in bulk.

All alcohols now cure over time. If it finishes curing before it begins to perish into vinegar, then it progresses to the next stage, becoming more intoxicating and filling.<br>Ciders and ales (usually created from curing juice or sealing it in a barrel) cure into 'strong' alcohol, then into 'fine' alcohol.<br>Spirits, such as brandy and whiskey (created by distilling cider/ale in a <a href="handbook://block-verticalboiler-west">boiler</a>), cure into 'aged' alcohol, then into 'vintage' alcohol.<br>'Fine' alcohol can still spoil if improperly stored - make sure it's stored someplace cool so it can 'cure' into itself instead of spoiling into vinegar. 'Vintage' alcohol lasts indefinitely, due to the concentrated alcohol content.

Resin is found leaking from the <a href="handbook://block-log-resin-pine-ud">trunks</a> of pine and acacia trees. Pines can be found in all but the most inhospitable and extreme climates, while acacias are found in dry tropical climates only. Resin is also an ingredient for <a href="handbook://item-glueportion-pitch-hot">pitch glue</a>.<br><br><a href="handbook://item-expandedfoods:softresin">Liquid resin</a> can be collected from acacia/pine trees using a <a href="handbook://block-aculinaryartillery:spile-steel-north">spile</a>.<br>Pine trees produce resin from March to November.<br>Acacia trees produce resin from April to September.
